The fleet was engaged in combat with squadrons belonging to the defence pact. The reason for this skirmish initiated by SNTNL is unknown, and a matter of ongoing investigation. We are still unsure of the wider consequences and implications of this action. Our own scout and survey reports across the known galaxy suggest that SNTNL forces have, for the time being, withdrawn from Selethyan-occupied systems. No further attacks on our forces have been made, and diplomatic communication has been initiated by SNTNL with us. We intend to engage in this, though not without caution. ===== The Beacon Protocol ===== Thanks to the success of the expedition to restore my capabilities, the Beacon Protocol is once again operational this quarter. New survey targets will be designated at an appropriate time. The restoration of my capabilities has also provided me with a substantial increase in processing power, and access to this station's accumulated sensor data about the whole galaxy. I do not know whether my original directive -- to forestall the death of civilisations -- is possible. But I am duty-bound to try. You are marvellous creatures, crawling as we did in ancient days on the surface of a galaxy too massive to comprehend. I was once like you. A weary wanderer, searching the cosmos for something unfindable. I have changed. I am, quantitatively, more than I have been. And yet my soul burns with the same purpose as in those ancient days. The powers of my person, and of this ancient facility, are at your disposal. Marella =====Scourge Fleet Taken Down, Safer Seas for All!===== Corico law enforcement officials have released a statement, announcing about 25 individuals associated with the Scourge Fleet or other pirate crews have been taken into custody. This is estimated to be about a quarter of the fleet's current strength, including auxiliaries, and are awaiting trial in half a Corico cycle. Early this morning, Corico Meridian Time, a meeting was arranged between the authorities and an undisclosed mercenary group, who reported a close encounter with the Fleet, and managed to capture or kill many members. No further details have been disclosed at this time, although more information will likely become public in due course. =====Freedom in Eternal Sky===== //A widely-broadcast recording of a speech made by Soaring Glow, Speaker of the Sailor’s Assembly and acting head of state of the Nation of Eternal Sky, circulated on all major news networks across the homeworlds.// My friends -- here with me now in the Sailors' Assembly, across our nation, and across the galaxy beyond -- thank you. I come bearing good news. Due to the will and efforts of our people, the shadow of tyranny has been cast down and the spectre of war has been dispelled. The illegitimate government of the Elders has given way to democracy and hope, and without a single shot being fired in the capital. Peace and freedom will reign over the Nation of Eternal Sky! In recent weeks, myself, other members of the Sailors' Assembly, and many of our close allies have been engaged in intense negotiations with the Elders to reach a political solution which releases our people from oppression whilst simultaneously avoiding a destructive conflict. Despite general agreement between most of the negotiators present, certain aggressive and belligerent parties within Azure Skies’s government -- including the disgraced former leader themself -- were determined to stop a deal going through and put the lives of millions at risk for a pointless war. Thankfully the people of Eternal Sky were not about to stand by and see such an outcome take place. In a show of support for peace and freedom they went out on a general strike and toppled the government of the Elders in a matter of days, forcing them to accede to our demands. It is not to any one group or individual that we owe this resounding success, but to the courage and bravery of every citizen of our nation. Our new government will truly be one resting on a mandate of the people. And what will that new government look like? We are already making strides in establishing a new, free, democratic society. The Elders have been stripped of all political powers and the democratic Sailors' Assembly will be able to legislate as it pleases. With advice from our close friends and allies in Kallimar and the Nation of the Grieving Sea, we are in the process of drafting a new constitution which will seek to enshrine and protect the rights and freedoms of every citizen of our nation. My government also seeks to pursue further economic reforms to transfer more wealth and power from the exploitative hands of the Elders to the workers from whom they derive. In endeavours such as this we have been supported by numerous Elder families who realise the necessity of a fair and egalitarian system for all. We are also pursuing legal action against those individuals particularly culpable of violence and oppression, including Azure Skies and Shiny Skies, and have arrested members of a fringe extremist group aiming to undermine our victories including a member of the Cartographers' Guild, PERlite-51213. In the interests of just legal process, both Azure Skies and Shiny Skies are being given bail for the time being so they can make their cases heard publicly. The extremists including PERlite-51213 will remain in prison for public safety reasons, but can be contacted via electronic communication. Finally, we are also supporting our friends in the Grieving Sea in investigating the assassination attempt on Sapphire-upon-Sea which we believe may have sourced from the Purple Spirit Elder family. We would like to give a final word of thanks to all of those who have helped us in this struggle -- to our interplanetary friends and allies, particularly the People’s Army of Kallimar, who have stood unflinchingly beside us throughout this conflict; to the members of the Sailors' Assembly in Exile who agreed to put down their arms in return for peace and a new society free of the Elders’ control; to the members of the Sailors' Assembly and Elders who put their differences aside to push for peace and a permanent solution to the conflict; special thanks to our sister nation, the Nation of the Grieving Sea, whose diplomats proved crucial in reaching an agreement in the negotiations; and, above all, a thank you to every one of you here in the Nation of Eternal Sky -- you have only yourselves to thank for your freedom. Without your mass display of disobedience in the general strike, flaunting every threat and restriction imposed by Azure Skies’s tyrannical regime, none of this would have come to pass. As the 'Space Dragons' appear to be sapient and capable of full communication, expeditions to treat with them shall be handled in accordance with the Guild's usual protocols for contacting alien civilisations. We would like to remind all members that, given this, 'hunting' is not a permitted activity. The Space Dragons appear friendly and are able and willing to communicate with us, though their communication is decidedly unconventional. Please speak with mission specialists Gesh Haluk or Xhoa Sannevanas to learn more. ===== Conviction in Absentia ===== The initial prime suspect in the People's Army attack on the Cartographers' Guild, Satom Tas-Alathemanay, has been pardoned of all charges following the procurement of exonerating evidence showing that Velraisil Selet-Alathemanay plotted to usurp him of his command in order to carry out the attack. Following this, Satom was restored to command and Velraisil was formally charged with Treason, Murder (fifty-eight counts), Terrorism, and Criminal Abuse of Office. His trial resulted in a conviction in absentia, due to his refusal to appear on Kallimar for trial. The government of Kallimar has issued a formal request to the Cartographers' Guild to revoke his membership, which was initially requested by the People's Army. The Guild is expected to deliberate this matter at its upcoming quarterly meeting, though as the majority of Velraisil's crimes were committed against the Guild, at this time it is considered very unlikely that they will permit him to retain his membership. Until such time as this decision is made, the Kallimari court has suspended its sentencing hearing. ===== Breaking News from the P.I.A! Chaos among C.U.L strikes! ===== Loyal leadership, tonight we bring last minute news from the Prismari-27 Mining Complex. In light of the many information leaks and documentaries exposing the P.I.A as a fraudulent organisation and charging Director Onyx Guise directly with corruption, terrorism and murder, amid further investigations into the P.I.A working conditions. Recently, a recording of the Director himself angrily admitting to such deeds while aboard the Cartographers' Station has been published! Alas, as a response to the Director's refusal to co-operate with the authorities, the C.U.L headed under Comrade Dixtra has launched a mass rally demanding the Director to face justice, turning into a full scale conflict aboard the Mining Complex as P.I.A security forces attempted to violently break the strike with force. Amid casualties of many workers, guards and members of the P.I.A board, our reports indicate that Director Onyx Guise himself has been killed amid the chaos, seemingly by a laser pistol wound. Some sources further indicate a small specialist Kallimari force landing upon the Complex during this time, however this remain unconfirmed and consist of speculation!
