OC pronouns: he/him

Email: gm_harry_w@ventures.oxfordrpg.com

Main themes: Everything Technology in Sci-Fi, pushing the limits of research and discovery. Dealing with legacy, and how each person will be remembered.

Where would you make your home in Space? My own little planetary outpost with my friends. Of course, equipped with large laboratories, an observatory, and all the amenities we need.

Navigation failure: I am a frequent runner, and I like to think that I have a fairly good sense of direction because of it. So when I thought “hmm, I'm going to run along the river towards the stadium” thinking that I knew Edinburgh pretty well, I was quite annoyed when I realised 20 minutes in that I was going the wrong way, out of the two possible options I could have chosen. Didn't do the route I thought I would do that day.

NPCs:

Name Pronouns Species Costume Description
Dr. Arokne Mote she/her Balra Grey poncho Lead FTL researcher, and one of the leaders of the Cartographers. Not afraid to push the boundaries of science.
Teeronua Dira any Rissi Orange sunglasses Leading cyberneticist, and it shows. A body covered in machinery: synthetic feathers and bionic eyes. Helpful with electronics but… unsettling.
Reckoner Korax he/him Android Leather gloves The combination of mercenary brains and brawn. A bulky Xhuva-like body and a hard metallic shell hold a cunning mind inside. Always willing to see an assignment out to its end.
Didria she/her Xhuva An elderly Xhuva scientist, born before the war ended.

OC pronouns: he/him

Email: gm_harry_s@ventures.oxfordrpg.com

Main themes: The beauty and danger of space, both resting on a knife-edge. Also aliens. And robots. Aliens and robots.

Where would you make your home in Space? Somewhere that looks really pretty, but also has a damn good airlock door. Space is scary, and I am afraid.

Navigation failure: In scouts, I took part in a hiking competition called “The Dragon Quest”, and our leaders took the team out for a practice hike one troop night. Everything was going well, we were about three quarters of the way through, and we were on track! We went into the next field on our route, and discovered cows there. No bother, they were on one side of the field, we could just cross the other side, right? Anyways, we got chased out of the field by a half dozen very aggressive cows, had to reroute and ended up half an hour late getting back.

NPCs:

Name Pronouns Species Costume Description
Kaila Syvour she/her Rissi Denim Jacket, Arms Head of the Guild's bio-engineering department, and altogether rather too eager to fulfil that role. Also a talented juggler (the extra hands help).
Ibus Inoloc he/him Balra Dice Shirt Balra merchant running an interplanetary trading company, who has come to the Guild seeking aid.
Ankara Bryes she/her Balra Idk, possibly a scarf? Leader of the "Beast Wrangler" mercenary group. Doesn't suffer fools or liars gladly.
Bookend they/it Android ermmmm… tbc The head of university correspondence and research co-ordinator in the Cartographers, and one of the 9 Guild leads.

OC pronouns: she/her

Email: gm_georgia@ventures.oxfordrpg.com

Main themes: Politics, especially where it leads to war. The long-forgotten being uncovered. AI.

Where would you make your home in Space? Somewhere quiet and cozy, where I would go unbothered.

Navigation failure: Years ago, I was travelling back from Manchester (where I'd met some friends) to Stevenage (where my dad lives). I accidentally booked the train for a Saturday rather than the (correct) Sunday. Expensive, but not the end of the world, I just had to buy a new– oh. The first train was still running at its usual time on Sunday, but a connecting train's last service was one hour earlier, leaving me stranded overnight in the terrifying darkness of a town whose name I don't remember.

NPCs:

Name Pronouns Species Costume Description
Marella she/her A.I. tbc Marella is the assumed name of the AI running at the heart of the Beacon Protocol, a system built into Cartographers' Station that is essential in facilitating the necessary calculations to enable the speed of FTL travel. She serves as the Station's AI, monitoring the system's myriad systems and collaborating with their organic operators. Due to her importance in running the Guild, and her recognised sapience as a Class 7 AI, Marella has been granted membership of the Guild's leadership body.
Sky Marshal Lathaleeay Veeris she/her Rissi A blue cloak and a red bandana Sky-Marshal Veeris has lustrous, dark blue feathers. She wears the usual military uniform of Kallimar, with an unimposing pin-badge on her bandana as the only indication of her rank. Her right wing hangs limp in a sling, and her left eye is greyed with a cataract.
Ardora Silver-Scaled she/her Balra A rainbow blanket worn as a shawl The enigmatic proprietress of the Shooting Star casino and resort. Her shawl, rather than matching with Balra tradition, is crafted from the richest and most luxurious fabrics the galaxy has to offer.
Kaph sKa Tokht she/her Selethyan A black cloak representing her vestigial wings A Selethyan 'princess' form, sent to the Cartographers' Guild to establish diplomatic relations.

OC pronouns: any

Email: gm_esther@ventures.oxfordrpg.com

Main themes: Interactions with new places, cultures, and species- particularly the emotional elements. Anything geography, e.g., alien landscapes and geomorphology.

Where would you make your home in Space? A Very Fast Ship that will let me zip across space so I can run from the law explore new places every day. And no, it will not be rubber duck shaped, who told you that?

Navigation failure: As a horse-obsessed nine year old on holiday in Ireland, I desperately wanted to go see the horses in a distant field. Paying no heed to my parents, I ran up to the field, only to discover that the animals were cows, not horses. It was then that we realised I needed glasses.

NPCs:

Name Pronouns Species Costume Description
Professor Half Leaf they/them Sailor Yellow cap An eccentric conspiracy theorist desperate to prove that the universe follows their proposed Optimal Shape. Their pressure suit is decorated with yellow markings in the shape of what you OC will recognise as a rubber duck.
Soldier Borga he/her Rissi Binoculars A “professional” documentary maker keen on capturing the natural wonders of the universe. Soldier Borga has tawny feathers and a large black plume on his head.
Dr. Kynlith Morophos she/her Xhuva Green hat Head of Surveys and Geographical Data Science, one of the nine Guild leaders. Dr. Morophos has deep red fur and kindly brown eyes.

OC pronouns: he/him

Email: gm_vincent@ventures.oxfordrpg.com

Main themes: The consequences of technology, the thrill of exploration and the unknown, and the joy and whimsy of manufacturing paper clips.

Where would you make your home in Space? As far away from France as possible, enjoying a multiplayer social deduction game.

Navigation failure: In my hometown of (at the time) 10+ years, during my millionth drive home from the local library, I autopiloted a little too much and made a wrong turn. Combined with a side of catastrophic equipment failure (my phone dying), many panicked turns ensued as the Sun inched further and further below the horizon. Thankfully, after stumbling across a familiar street I eventually arrived at my destination about 20 minutes later than originally anticipated in what is still a very humbling experience to this day.

NPCs:

Name Pronouns Species Costume Description
Humfree Didac he/him Balra Top hat and bowtie Head of Entertainment, Marketing, and Outreach. One of the nine Guild leaders.
Humphrey Dydak he/him Balra Top hat, bowtie, and stationery Owner of locally-run Stationery Store, supplying the Guild with all its stationery needs. Penchant for paperclips. Distinct from Humfree Didac.
Amnesty Waves any Sailor Mop and bucket Janitor at the Guild who mostly keeps to themself.
Soldier Mac Guffin he/they Rissi Red sunglasses Fellow Cartographer with a known habit of taking other jobs on the side…

OC pronouns: he/him

Email: gm_kamil@ventures.oxfordrpg.com

Main themes: Pushing the boundaries, exploration, the fear of the unknown, and funny galaxy politics and diplomacy. I love democracy.

Where would you make your home in Space?:

Step 1) Establish a space zoo on a nearby exotic alien world, adopting the unfamiliar local species to be my space buddies forever.

Step 2) ???

Step 3) PROFIT!!! (Or the thoughts of profit as I get brutally dismembered by the unfamiliar species I adopted thinking they were going to be my friends)

Navigation failure: Once, I went back to my home country to meet up with a far side of my family for a little family get together. Me, (foolishly assuming I know the place I ahem grew up in like the back of my own hand), took an earlier train to try to arrive there ahead of the rest of the family for a little bit of a surprise.

Unfortunately for my clearly veteran sense of navigation, I took a train to a town of a similar name, but not the place of the family meeting. Oh, and the town I arrived in was 500km away from the one of the meeting, a little bit of slight inconvenience. I had quite a bit of explaining to do to my family on why I suddenly found myself on the other side of the country later that evening.

NPCs:

Name Pronouns Species Costume Description
C.A.T.N.I.S it/its Android Pair of blue headphones Officially known as the Cartographer Admin and Trade Net Information Specialist, though it doesn't like using that name much. One of the nine Guild leaders, specifically the Head of Administration and Logistics.
Director Onyx Guise he/him Sailor Dark blue navy coat Chair of the Prismari Industrial Association, always following the age-old company motto: 'Where there is space, there is business!'
Elder Tavi Yodaff she/her Balra Shawl, clay pot and colourful knitting A younger purple-scaled Balra and the elder of the Corico Preservation Society. Always accompanied by a couple of small animals she cares for.
Comrade Dixtra they/them Xhuva Red neckerchief A Xhuva of silver and red colours with a fox-like snout and features. The determined and fierce leader of the Conclave of United Labourers.

OC pronouns: they/them

Email: gm_ralph@ventures.oxfordrpg.com

Main themes: Guild politics, existentialism, spiritualism, the way in which different character's beliefs affect their outlooks on space exploration.

Where would you make your home in Space? I have had a long-held dream to travel the universe in a spaceship with a big garden growing and cooking all the weirdest plants and fungi of space. I would call it 'The Starborn Salad'.

Navigation failure: usually I'm quite good with maps but there was that one time where we took the wrong path on DofE and ended up walking alongside the major dual carriageway into Brighton, hiding from passing police cars because that was illegal, and climbing down a road bridge to get back on the right track.

NPCs:

Name Pronouns Species Costume Description
All-Encompassing Blue she/her Sailor tbc The Cartographers' Station chief medic, and an expert in the Life Sciences.
Sapphire-upon-Sea she/they sailor tbc Current figurehead of the nation, she is determined to enlighten other Sailor nations and the wider galaxy to the ‘Sailors' Will’, especially its values concerning freedom, liberty, and the natural world.

OC pronouns: she/her

Email: gm_annabel@ventures.oxfordrpg.com

Main themes: Fusion cultures; what makes a place home; what happens when a bunch of different peoples come together with a shared purpose; how fractures, factions and community form across the vastness of space.

Where would you make your home in Space? Okay so, cowboys, but in space. I want a spaceship which also has horses. Space + horses would be my home. Also a space library. Okay I'll be honest, I kind of just want my dream house, but on an FTL spaceship so I can take that dream home wherever I like.

Navigation failure: We were searching for a viewing point and my parents believed we'd found it, but there was a tiny gate going past the platform onto a trodden-earth, cliffside 'path'. I was convinced this was the way, the current view was not good enough for me. So, we walked past the sign (which we later discovered read 'Danger: Rock Falls') and onto this 'path', which wound its way around what I commented (proud of my geography knowledge) looked like fresh rockfalls. The path was steep and close to the edge, but we did, eventually, make it to a very nice (and safe) view – just not the viewpoint (we'd left that behind along with the sign). For me, a success. For my mother, a traumatic navigation failure.

NPCs:

Name Pronouns Species Costume Description
Detective Garibaldi he/him Xhuva? Blue sunglasses The Head of Security for the Cartographers' Guild Station: known for his passion for modular security, wry humour and camaraderie with attempted mischief-makers (attempted because they don't succeed on his watch). He also stands out for his unusual appearance: it's more amphibian-like than other Xhuva with bright blue splotches marking his scale-like skin and tail.
Dr. Acleaf (Clea) Singreen she/her Rissi The Head Librarian of the Guild. She's a retired First Talon who believes resolutely in the power of language. She's a culture curator, historian, and communicator of communications. Got questions about linguistics? Not anymore! Not if she's in the room.

OC pronouns: he/him

Email: gm_ben@ventures.oxfordrpg.com

Main themes: The logistics of space exploration, and the consequences thereof on culture, society, politics and individuals.

Where would you make your home in Space? At the heart of a new industrial revolution, perhaps advising on the ethics of planetary colonisation and exploitation, and the logistics of minimising our impact and improving sustainability.

Navigation failure: There is no such thing as being lost; you can always simply decide that where you are is where you always wanted to go. That said, one time I ended up hiking around Crete in the boiling sun, without a water bottle, which was a tough position to want to be in.

NPCs:

Name Pronouns Species Costume Description
Squadron Commander Setharian Tas-Alathemanay he/him Rissi Military Jacket, Red Neckerchief Born on Kallimar to high-ranking members of the Rissi intelligence services, Seth studied offensive security and became a penetration tester for the military. His creativity and ingenuity led him to quickly rise to the rank of Squadron Commander, leading the cybersecurity division for the entirety of Alathemanay. Wanting to contribute to the cutting edge of exploration, he eventually retired and bought his expertise to the Guild, where he became the Head of Information Security and Intelligence.
Tremendous Flash he/him Sailor Red Coat, Green Gloves Tremendous Flash comes from the Nation of the Grieving Sea on the Thousand Colours Moon. He's a junior researcher who only recently secured a placement with the Cartographer's Guild, working as an anthropologist and linguist.
