Sample Characters
Here are a couple of example characters to serve as inspiration and to give you a sense of how to answer the character submission form! For more information about creating characters, see Character Creation.
Example 1
Player Name: Jane Doe
Player Pronouns: She/Her
Character Name: Harietta “Indigo” Jones
Character Pronouns: She/Them
Character Species: Balra
Character Appearance: Their long shawl flowing behind them and always donning their signature fedora and brown leather flight jacket, an explorer must look the part and Harietta certainly took that motto to heart! Their lightly reddish scales and glistening yellow reptilian eyes are always on the look out for danger and adventure. She always carries their signature hook-whip.
Public Bio: A dashing rogue with a quick sense of wit and even quicker sense to dive into long forgotten ruins. Where there is danger and the promise of riches, Harietta is sure soon to follow. She loves using their alter-ego of “Indigo” when out exploring, determined to make it in the history books as one of the great pioneers in space exploration, even if she must bend a few rules to get there.
Private Bio: Harietta fashions themselves as a fearless explorer, however she harbours a dark secret. One day when out on a routine expedition, diving into a great chasm deep below the surface of a unknown world with their expedition team, their obsession with artefacts got the better of them. When the underground ruins began to destabilise after a unexpected earthquake, she had a choice. Secure the alien artefacts she found, no doubt bringing much respect from the Cartographers back home, or save a fellow researcher hanging on for dear life. She chose the former. When she returned, she was celebrated for their discoveries. No one knew of the choice she made, and she hopes no one ever will.
What connections does your character have to the Cartographers? Harietta is a well-known xenoarchaeologist and explorer within the Cartographers' Guild. She is often the first one out of the station in a FTL ship and the last one back, ready to publish their dozens of new findings! Unfortunately, their rather dangerous stunts and insistence that every ancient alien artefact “belongs in a museum!” has earned them a bit of a reputation within the Cartographers.
How does your character see space? Space exists to be explored and conquered! It is the ultimate test in turning the unknown into the known.
What does your character want to learn? Harietta delights in analysing the remnants of past civilisations. Whatever ancient knowledge is out there from long forgotten civilisations and species, Harietta is determined to document and catalogue it.
How will your character be remembered? Harietta wants to be remembered by what she has managed to discover. From ancient scripts to long forgotten ruins, bringing forgotten secrets into the light is their legacy.
How far is your character willing to go? As far as it takes, even if a couple of rules have to be broken here and there. Safety regulations, really? Who came up with those? They just get in the way.
Quirks:
- Well Equipped (+)
- Specialised Tool (+): (Harietta's hook-whip, it allows them to use it as a grappling hook to scale difficult terrain with ease.)
- Academic Discipline (+): Social Science (Archaeology) (Harietta is well versed in the study of xenoarchaeology.)
- Reputation (-): (Harietta has a bad reputation with the Cartographers' Guild as she is known for cutting corners and their expeditions always being risky.)
- Secret (-): (Harietta hopes no one ever finds out she deliberately left one of their survey team members behind for that artefact.)
Playstyle Quirks:
- Red Shirt (FREE): (I want Harietta to be punished when she slips up in their exploration. OC I want to roleplay Harietta beginning to face the choices she made in the past about the nature of their expeditions.)
- Romance Me (FREE):
Items:
- Weapon (2→1), Untested, Compact; Harietta’s trusty laser pistol on their hip for when things don’t go quite right. It is small and can be easily fitted into their jacket, however this design has a bad habit of giving up when she needs it the most.
- Field Medic's Kit (2→3), A Cut Above; She doesn’t want to admit how dangerous exploring unknown worlds might be, however this top of the line Field Medic's Kit has saved Harietta from some rough situations.
- Explosives (2→1), Contraband;
- Scientific Equipment (3→3); Everything Harietta needs to perform xenoarchaeology in the field.

Example 2
Player Name: Joe Doe
Player Pronouns: He/Him
Character Name: Admiral Du-niib
Character Pronouns: He/Him
Character Species: Sailor
Character Appearance: The renowned Admiral Du-niib is a Sailor looking to be in his older age. His dark navy-blue skin decorated with vibrant circle patterns always sticks out, as well as his one remaining good eye always darting around, as if assessing for threats. The Admiral always walks around proudly in his pressure suit, decorated and well maintained with golden markings celebrating the greatest of his past deeds.
Public Bio: Admiral Du-niib, but to you it's “Sir Admiral Sir”, you hear me! I don't want to hear anything else, especially all this “exploring” business. I swear by my one good eye and all my tentacles I will show all you whippersnappers that your so-called “Unexplored Galaxy” is nothing but a load of danger and ol' rubbish! The Admiral writhes around in the tank of his suit from the little speech. But yes yes, you probably won't listen anyway, all you young ones are the same. We'll see who comes crawling back when my ships will be needed to protect your precious hides from the horrors you unleashed!
Private Bio: Once upon a time, I was as eager as anyone to chase the possibility of discovery. I took my fleets from the Thousand Colours Moon and flew into the horizon. I helped to establish colonies, to establish diplomatic contact with the Balra and Rissi, even was ready to take my ships into the great unknown! It was only until my only son, my poor poor son, got all excited about this Cartographers' Guild business! Flew into the unknown and never came back. I told that young upstart to listen to me, and he didn't. Now, I am determined to warn these fools of the danger of ceaseless exploration!
What connections does your character have to the Cartographers?: I am a proud envoy from the Commonwealth of the Moon, representing my people's interests within the Cartographers' Guild. These so called “Cartographers” need a good eye kept on them, lest they begin meddling with things that will doom us all!
How does your character see space?: Space? Bah, when I see space, all I see is possibility upon possibility for danger. All these young “explorers” certainly don't know what they are meddling with, let me get that straight! The Known Galaxy is in enough of a rut for me already, thank you very much!
What does your character want to learn?: My dear old son departed for the unknown, and I am confident I will use all my available resources to eventually find that whippersnapper! I told him how dangerous space is, and he didn't listen!
How will your character be remembered?: Hear me, hear me, when the horrors of the unknown come chasing all these so-called “explorers” off, it will be me and my fleets which will stand in the way, protecting what we know and value!
How far is your character willing to go?: I am content where I am, and that is in the Cartographers' station! All these young ones going off for “alien worlds”. Bah, the biggest thing that is “alien” to me is the amenities of this station, dang nabbit! How is an Admiral of my reputation meant to survive with these sub-par living standards?!
Quirks:
- Established Presence (+): (The Admiral has high standing in the Commonwealth of Moon, especially from his glory days of leading the majority of their fleets.)
- Business Partner (+): (The Admiral is good friends with the representative of the Commonwealth of Moon, and can rely on old favours and the like.)
- Poorly-Equipped (-):
