The Legacy of the Selethyan
A young Sailor couple being given a guided tour through the museum on ARCOL-B-218 C. A hundred thousand worker-forms cleaning up a newly-uncovered source of radiation on Kallimar. Undersea construction facilitating the start of a new Sailor colony deep in the depths of an ammonia ocean. Terraforming projects supported by ten million forms churning the earth and sowing the nutrients a planet needs to bear life.
There is a lot that the Swarm can offer.
And a lot that the Swarm can be offered. Certainly, barter with the swarm is rather unusual. But it is possible to live in peace with them – to prosper alongside them – and the members of the Cartographers' Guild find a way to fulfil the dream the Founders once dreamed for this wayward species.
Still, there are no shortage of work crews who cower in intimidation when the thorax of their foreman – a certain Kith-Toph sKa Pes-Pip – turns to face them, and no shortage who are glad when the work is done and the Selethyan leave the world.
Friendship, trade, and alliance are one thing. The Swarm are still strange, and that which is strange is all too easily seen as other.
For now, at least.
