The Land With No Cages
Over the mountain
Lies a Land that's fair and bright,
Where children frolic in the morning sun
And sleep under stars at night.
This Land will have no hatred,
No shackles, bars or chains,
Our forebears dreamt this dream for us
To free us from their pain.
We shall travel to that Land some day,
Over the mountain, far away.
We shall graze upon new pastures,
In the Land that we'll call Home.
[Translator's Note: Whilst unfortunately not an exact match, care has been taken to ensure the metre and ABCB rhyme scheme is preserved. Note the last verse instead has an AABC scheme, matching the original's break from its usual scheme.]
